114 There's A Wideness In God's Mercy
114 There's A Wideness In God's Mercy
The words of our Hymn of Response are given below, and the music is from hymn
number 114. It is a composite of words by William Faber (from There's
A Wideness In God's Mercy) and Erik Routley (from All Who Love and
Serve Your City, #356).
-
There's a wideness, in God's mercy,
like the wideness of the sea;
There is mercy, with the Savior,
Which is more than liberty.
-
For all days are days of judgment,
and the Lord is waiting still;
Loves His children, though they spurn Him,
Off'ring peace from Calv'ry's hill.
-
In your day of loss and sorrow,
in your day of helpless strife,
Honor, peace, and love retreating,
Seek the Lord, Who is your life!
-
There is welcome, for the sinner,
and more graces for the good;
There is mercy, with the Savior,
There is healing in His blood.
-
For the love of God is broader
Than the measure of man's mind.
And the heart of the Eternal,
is most wonderfully kind.
-
If our love were but more simple,
We should take Him at His word;
And our lives would be all sunshine,
In the sweetness of our Lord.
