80 O World of GodOur Hymn of Praise this morning is # 80, O World of God. It has been sung here once before, and both the pastor and the minister of music feel that it is a great hymn, and would be good for our church family to learn. The words were by the poet, hymn writer, and scholar Robert B. Y. Scott, in 1971; he wrote them in response to a request from a hymnal editing committee, who needed words to the Parry classic more suitable for a worship service. The tune, named JERUSALEM, is by Charles H. H. Parry in 1931, and has been so popular in England, that it has been called by some the English national anthem. It was first sung in a service of thanksgiving at Royal Albert Hall, in the midst of World War II. It is best known in America from its use in the movie Chariots of Fire. 01/07/00MIDI

Grace Notes was a joint production of the late Minister of Music, Steve Gungl, and former Pastor John Duge. It relies heavily on The Companion to the Seventh-day Adventist Hymnal and The SDA Digital Hymnal.
