Nominating Process at San Francisco Central
During
May/June, a Special Committee is selected who will choose
the members of the Nominating Committee.
The members of the Special Committee are chosen based
upon recommendations from the members of the San Francisco
Central Seventh-day Adventist Church. Only members of
the San Francisco Central Seventh-day Adventist Church
may submit recommendations, and each member may submit
recommendations only once.
The Nominating Committee meets during July, August, and
September to select church officers, subject to approval
by a majority vote of the church members present when
the vote is taken. Church officers serve for the church
year October 1 to September 30. After the work of the
Nominating Committee is done, the committee is dissolved
and does not exist any longer. Any subsequent additions
or changes to the list of church officers is made by church
board action.
On June 7, 2005, the following guidelines were adopted
by majority vote of the Church Board:
- No person can serve on the Special Committee or the
Nominating Committee two consecutive years.
- Couples, married or otherwise in a relationship,
cannot serve on the same committee.
- No person can serve on both the Special Committee
and the Nominating Committee in the same year.
- The Special Committee shall consist of five (5) persons
chosen by the members of San Francisco Central church.
The Nominating Committee shall consist of seven (7)
persons chosen by the Special Committee, with no alternates.
All members of the Special Committee and the Nominating
Committee must be members of the San Francisco Central
Seventh-day Adventist Church.
